LastPass Enterprise – Account Setup Instructions (Staff)


 

It is an important distinction that students are offered LastPass Premium, while staff members are offered LastPass Enterprise through Deakin licensing.

This article is relevant to Staff only, and specifically for LastPass Enterprise.

New Deakin LastPass Accounts

All Deakin staff members should have a LastPass account provisioned. Please follow the below instructions to activate your account.

                    1. Firstly, ensure you have the LastPass Extension installed on either your Windows or Mac.

Your LastPass vault is your home base for everything you’ve saved including passwords, secure notes, and credit card information.

If you are new to LastPass, you can import sites into your vault or add them manually. The LastPass Browser Extension can automatically capture account passwords as you enter them on every website.

From the LastPass vault, you can launch websites, edit login information, add notes, share login information, and more.

Existing Deakin LastPass Accounts

For existing users that have registered for a free or premium LastPass account with their Deakin Email address, please follow these instructions.


This would only work if you have your email address in the format firstname.lastname@deakin.edu.au.

  1. Make sure to log into your LastPass account with your Deakin Email address as the username.

  2. Locate the email with subject 'Deakin University & LastPass' from 'LastPass <do-not-reply-support@lastpass.com>'

  3. Click on 'Activate LastPass'.



  4. Confirm the account email is correct; otherwise, the service will not work.

    If satisfied, select 'Yes, add me!'



  5. Follow the steps in 'New Deakin LastPass Accounts' to log in.

Linking Existing Personal LastPass Accounts

You may link your existing personal LastPass account to your Deakin account, which will be treated as a shared folder within your Deakin LastPass account.

To link your personal account:

  1. Log in to LastPass using your Deakin LastPass enterprise login via the Lastpass browser extension or from the following link.
  2. Click on Open my Vault.
  3. Select Account Benefits from the navigation pane on the left.
  4. Enter your personal LastPass account's email address, and master password in the appropriate fields, and click Link accounts.

Note: If you receive the prompt to Activate LastPass families for free instead, you will need to activate this benefit as shown in the following section, and then link your personal account.

LastPass Enterprise: Activate Family Benefits

As a LastPass Enterprise user, you now can activate LastPass Families Benefit for free, so family, friends, anyone you care about so that they can also save their password and other sensitive data as safe as yours.

Any individual you invite to your LastPass Families account will be granted with their own personal LastPass account just like yours and each individual vault will be completely private.

 

Claiming Family Benefits for free - Using an Existing LastPass Account

  1. Log in to LastPass using your Deakin LastPass enterprise login via the Lastpass browser extension or from the following link.

  2. Click on Open my Vault.

  3. Navigate to Account Benefits in the bottom left navigation and click Activate LastPass Families for free.



  4. Enter your existing personal LastPass account email address, then click Let's go.

    If you don't have an existing personal account, create a new personal account using the LastPass Create Account portal.

    After creating your personal LastPass account, you maybe prompted to verify the email.

    Once your email has been verified, you can proceed with rest of the guide.

  5. Enter your Master Password for your personal account, then click Let's go and enter Multifactor Passcode if it is enabled in your personal LastPass account. 



  6. Click Back to Account Benefits and check your personal email and click the verification link. 



  7. Now you've activated LastPass Families for free for your LastPass Business account and your "Families benefit status" is set to Claimed within the Account benefits page



  8. In order to add members log in to the following link with your personal LastPass account or manage and add members through your personal LastPass vault by clicking into Manage Family which is located in the bottom left navigation.





Claiming LastPass Benefit for free - Using a new LastPass Account

  1. Log in to LastPass using your Deakin LastPass enterprise login via the Lastpass browser extension or from the following link.

  2. Click on Open my Vault.

  3. Navigate to Account Benefits in the bottom left navigation and click Activate LastPass Families for free.
