Deakin Mobile – Cancel my plan or transfer number to another provider


If you want to cancel your Deakin personal mobile plan, you may choose to transfer your service(s) to another service provider or another Telstra plan, or you may choose to cancel your service altogether.

Note: if this is for a corporate service (paid for by Deakin, not a payroll deduction) please obtain and attach written approval from your authorised representative. when submitting your request to Solve.

Transferring to another provider, or your own Telstra plan

If you wish to transfer your service(s) to another provider or another Telstra plan, you will need to complete the transfer process below.

  1. Purchase a Telstra Pre-Paid SIM Card from one of many locations including Fuel Stations, Woolworths/Coles, Convenience Stores/Corner Shops/Milk Bars, Post Offices & Telstra Stores. 

  2. Once purchased (if not from a Telstra Store) go to  https://prepaid.activate.telstra.com.au/ to activate the Pre-Paid SIM Card.

    Note: We recommend purchasing a $10 or $30 packet, otherwise if you buy a $2 packet you will need to load $10 at the time of activation to complete the order.

  3. Once the Pre-Paid service is active, you will need to contact Solve Communications to perform a 'Change Number Order' over the Pre-Paid SIM Card to transfer your existing number to the pre-paid service.

    1. Email Solve Communications using the Deakin Mobile - Transferring off the Deakin Mobile Plan email template. (For Mac users, please copy and paste the content of this word document into an email)

    2. Solve will send you a Change of Ownership Form via Adobe Sign to sign digitally.

    3. Solve may request a mobile password to be supplied, this can be retrieved by calling the IT Service Desk on 1800 463 888.

    4. You will need to supply Solve with a scanned copy or photo of the ID you have used in the Change of Ownership Form.

    5. The Adobe Sign form will be automatically sent to the Deakin authorised account holder to add their name and signature.

    6. Solve will check all the details are complete and perform the change order to assign your Deakin phone number to your new pre-paid service.

    7. If you wish to move to a different provider (other than Telstra), you can now do this independently. 

Please ensure you have read the Critical Information Summary of your new pre-paid service.

Note: Once your service is transferred to the casual Telstra Plan all inquiries must be raised with Telstra directly via 132 200

 

Cancelling your Deakin personal mobile service

If you wish to cancel your mobile service, please fill out the cancellation form. By cancelling the service you will be releasing the mobile number back to Telstra to redistribute to another mobile user. You will be deducted or invoiced for charges until the cancellation date.

 

Outstanding Costs

As billing is retrospective, your mobile service must be transferred into your name to ensure there are no outstanding charges when you leave the University. You may be sent an invoice if this is not possible.

If you are still working at Deakin, you may continue to see phone charges being deducted from your pay until approximately six weeks after you have transferred your service to a new provider (e.g. your January charges are usually deducted in your first March pay).
