How do I apply for a transport travel concession?

Domestic students

If you are a domestic student, you can check your eligibility and print your Student Travel Concession form through the Student Travel Concession system which you can also access via StudentConnect under ‘personal details’. If you are eligible you can print a copy and take it to your nearest participating Public Transport Office for processing. Visit the PTV website for locations and hours of operation.

Deakin students who are Australian citizens or permanent residents or students with refugee status or studying as part of an approved overseas exchange program are eligible for a concession if they are studying full time in an on campus undergraduate course.

Deakin students are issued concession cards for the calendar year in which they are enrolled.  If the Student Travel Concession system says you are ineligible for a concession card or you are given a six month concession card you may be enrolled incorrectly, or are enrolled as a part-time student for part of the year. If you believe you are entitled to a concession card for the full calendar year, please contact Student Central.

International students

International full-time undergraduate students may be eligible for discounted public transport by getting an International Undergraduate Student Education Pass (iUSEpass) for travel around Melbourne. The discounted passes are valid for Zones 1 + 2, or the relevant regional zone of your education institute.

Find out the conditions for eligibility from the Public Transport Travel Concession webpage.

If you're eligible, complete the online application form to receive an email with your iUSEpass code, please allow up to 3 business days to receive your code.

Only complete the online application form if you intend to purchase the iUSEpass.

Once you receive your code, go to the iUSEpass website, register your details to create an account and buy your iUSEpass within 5 working days. This will include uploading a passport quality photo and you will be required to pay either by BPAY or credit card.

If your iUSEpass has expired, complete the online application form to receive a new iUSEpass code, log into your iUSEpass website account and select renew pass.
