Why can't I install software on a Deakin lab computer?

Note: Deakin students and staff cannot install software on Deakin lab computers.

Digital Services has placed this restriction on lab computers to assist with malware and virus prevention. This ensures all computers remain in a stable, reliable state to support teaching and learning.

If you need additional software on a Deakin lab computer in a classroom, lecture theatre, library or computer lab, speak to your Unit Chair who can request for it to be installed.

You can also access Deakin course and lab software from home or from anywhere you need to be, using Apps and Desktops Anywhere (ADA). The service uses VMware technology to provide an alternative, cloud-based solution to on-campus computer labs. The VMware client software required to use Apps and Desktops Anywhere is pre-installed on all computer lab workstations.
